2010 Pioneer Banquet: Isao "Kami" Kamitani

We are pleased to announce that the Japan America Society of Colorado will be honoring Mr. Isao “Kami” Kamitani with a prestigious Pioneer Award. The award will be presented at a special dinner to be held on Saturday, October 23rd 2010 at the Westin Tabor Center's Continental Ballroom.

The Pioneer Award is given by the JASC to recognize individuals who have made significant contributions as true pioneers in the development of good relations between Colorado and Japan and have overcome challenges to improve our community.

For more than 30 years, Kami has invested immeasurable amounts of his time, energy and dedication to improving and expanding the relationship between Colorado & Japan. In addition, Kami is recognized for his loyalty, trust, passion and incredible humility when dealing with American and Japanese businesses. Throughout his career he has supported, mentored and helped develop many business leaders and businesses in the US and Japan. During his forty-year career with Sumitomo Corporation, he was recognized four times for his significant international business achievements.

Throughout its 22-year history, JASC has benefited greatly from the support of Kami, a two-term president of the organization and one of its founding fathers. In 1981, Kami founded the Japanese Firms Association, an organization committed to helping Japanese living in Colorado adapt to their new homes. Currently serving as President of JFA and on the Board of the JASC, Kami continues to connect with the community as part of his ongoing role as a cultural ambassador.

We hope that you will be able to join us in honoring all that Kami has done for both the JASC and the community at large. By acting as a sponsor for the event, you and your company will play a visible role throughout the evening. If you are unable to sponsor, we would ask that you consider purchasing a table for the event. Monies raised from the event will go to the various programs of the JASC, a Colorado 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

Please join us and help make the evening a meaningful one for Kami, his wife Miyoko, his family flying in from Kyoto, Japan and hundreds of guests. Contact Dilek Eccles, Executive Director of the JASC, for more details on the various sponsorship opportunities available.
