Details	Founded under the auspices of the Japan America Society of Colorado, the William and Alice Hosokawa Fellowship Program provides grants annually to create a better understanding of Japan by educating people in Colorado about Japanese history, culture and arts.

Eligibility	Grants are intended to assist Colorado-based individuals and nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations with projects that promote goodwill and understanding through educational and cultural activities. Fellowships totaling up to $10,000 annually are meant to provide special opportunities for individuals and organizations to promote an understanding of Japan in Colorado. Grants cover the two categories listed below:

Individual

Educational expenses, other than undergraduate tuition, which might include graduate tuition, travel expenses, books, and other materials.

Institutional

Funds for public programs, which might include conferences, symposia, performances, exhibitions, community events, and cultural exchange (other than staff salaries).

General Guidelines:

Grants are intended to assist Colorado-based individuals and nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations with projects that promote goodwill and understanding through educational and cultural activities.

Fellowships totaling up to $10,000 annually are meant to provide special opportunities for individuals and organizations to promote an understanding of Japan in Colorado.

A project which receives a grant for 2008 must be commenced by March 15, 2009.

Application:

Applications must be postmarked on or before April 1, 2008. Submit seven copies of the application and supporting materials by postal delivery.

Announcement of grant recipient(s) will be made shortly after May 15, 2008.
