When westerners visit Japan, they are enthralled by temples and shrines that seem to cover the country on seemingly every street corner and town center. Ask someone if they have been to Japan, and they may regale you with awe-inspiring stories of Temples in Kyoto and Nara, their size and apparently evident devout place in society.

Join two dynamic and educational speakers discuss the roots of religious culture and history in Japan, from early Shintoism to Buddhism, to a modern encompassing of both.

Guest speakers: Dr. Ginnie Ishimatsu, Professor of Religious Studies at DU
Rev. Kanya Okamoto, Tri-State/Denver Buddhist Temple
