Shodo (Japanese Calligraphy) Workshop


A Japanese New Year tradition is Kakizome, the first writing with brush and ink of the New Year.  In this three-hour workshop by Mamiko Ikeda, you will learn basic calligraphy strokes and you will write some auspicious words for a good start to the New Year.

Date and Time: Saturday, February 6, 2016, 9 am - noon

Place: Sakura Square Mezzanine Room (1905 Lawrence Street, Denver, CO 80202) *Entrance is on Larimer Street between 19th and 20th next to eye doctor’s office.

Price: $40 for JASC members / $50 for general public (Price includes $6 for materials). * Materials include felt mat, rice paper, newsprint paper for practice and sumi ink.  You can bring your own brush or borrow them at the workshop.
