Jomon Pottery Lecture & Workshop

  • Simpson United Methodist Church 6001 Wolff Street Arvada, CO, 80003 United States (map)

The Jomon culture, originating in 11,000 BCE, is believed to have existed peacefully in Japan for about 10,000 years. Acclaimed Japanese artists Ifurai, Genya Murakami and Ryujiro Oyabu will discuss Jomon pottery forming techniques and tools. These artists help lead the revival of the oldest expression of Japanese art in contemporary culture. Then following a potluck lunch, those who have registered will have the chance to try their hand at this form of pottery in the workshop.
