The artist is an abstract painter known for her swirling, dot-based paintings that recall cellular and cosmic imagery. She obtained her BFA and MFA from the University of Colorado, Boulder.
Her work has been exhibited at institutions including the Neuberger Museum of Art SPACE / 42, New York, NY; Mass MOCA, North Adams, MA; Museum of Contemporary Art, Denver, CO; National Academy Museum, New York, NY and Asian Arts Initiative, Philadelphia, PA.
The most recent awards bestowed upon the artist include FOR-SITE Foundation’s Wauson Fellowship and the Eric Isenburger Annual Art Award from the National Academy Museum. The artist lives and works in New York City.
Ms. Takenaga will discuss her art and the influence of her Japanese heritage. Light refreshments and drinks will be provided and books of Ms. Takenaga's art will be available for purchase. The Gallery Talk will begin at 7pm.
RSVPs strongly recommended to ensure entrance into gallery; space is limited. A donation of $10 for the first person and $5 for each additional person per RSVP is kindly requested. At the door, donations requested will be $10 per person.
