Denver International Airport

Denver International Airport, often referred to as DIA or DEN, is an airport in Denver, Colorado. At 53 square miles (140 km2) it is the largest airport in the United States by total area, and the second largest airport in the world after King Fahd International Airport. Runway 16R/34L is the longest public use runway in the United States. In 2011 Denver International Airport was the 11th-busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic with 52,699,298 passengers.

The airport is located in northeastern Denver, Colorado, and is operated by the City & County of Denver Department of Aviation. Denver International Airport is the busiest and largest airport in the United States. On June 10, 2013 United Airlines began nonstop flights from DEN to Tokyo's Narita Airport-- the nonstop service has opened up new avenues of tourism between Denver and Asia. DIA was voted Best Airport in North America by readers of Business Traveler Magazine six years in a row (2005–2010) and was named “America’s Best Run Airport” by Time Magazine in 2002.

Denver International Airport is the main hub for low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines and commuter carrier Great Lakes Airlines. It is also United Airline's fourth largest hub. The airport is also a focus city for Southwest Airlines, having added over 50 destinations since January 2006. Denver International Airport is the only airport in the United States to have implemented an ISO 14001-certified environmental management system covering the entire airport.

Denver International Airport celebrated their 20th anniversary in February 2015. DIA has grown from serving 31 million passengers in 1995 to an all-time record of 53.4 million passengers in 2014. Today, DIA generates more than $26 billion in annual economic impact for Colorado and supports nearly 190,000 jobs. It remains the largest and newest commercial airport in the United States, with room to double its current capacity to remain competitive in the growing global aviation marketplace.

DIA has been a supporter of Japan America Society of Colorado programming for many years. We are so grateful to their wonderful staff for their participation in and support of our events.
