Denver International Airport supports nonstop flight service between Denver and Tokyo on United Airlines, along with 25 other international nonstop destinations. Colorado is an international destination in large part because of this incredible airport.

United Airlines launched a nonstop flight service between DEN and Narita Airport on the incredible Boeing 787 Dreamliner in June 2013. Since its inception, the flight has been wildly successful - more than 90% full on a daily basis. Every international business in the Rocky Mountain region appreciates United Airlines for supporting this flight!

-Since 2011,  Japan has been Colorado’s fourth largest export market, following Canada, Mexico, and China, for items like medical instruments, industrial computers, and electronics.

Sakura Square LLC manages and operates Sakura Square, located in downtown Denver at 20th Street between Lawrence and Larimer Streets.

Established in 1973, Sakura Square is a destination for those seeking Japanese goods and services. Sakura Square also houses residents in the 20-story Tamai Tower apartment complex. Tamai Tower converted from affordable housing to market rate housing in the summer of 2014, retaining a mixed-income, multi-cultural, and multi-generational tenant base.

A small garden plaza at the entrance to the Tamai Tower conveys the history of Japanese Americans in Denver through statues of Governor Ralph L. Carr, Minoru Yasui and Rev. Yoshitaka Tamai. The Tri-State/Denver Buddhist Temple anchors Sakura Square and provides a spiritual center as well as a unique cultural and community gathering place.

Visitors come year-round to Sakura Square to explore its small businesses, authentic Japanese and Asian cuisine, retail shops, and cultural experiences. In addition to these businesses, several Japanese American non-profit organizations hold offices in Sakura Square, including Sakura Foundation. 

Every year, Sakura Square hosts the Denver Cherry Blossom Festival as well as Spirit of Japan. These annual events feature various Japanese cultural showcases and exhibits such as Japanese dance performances, martial arts demonstrations, Japanese arts, food and a variety of Asian goods vendors.
