About our Business Protocol Training
JASC is proud to offer one complimentary business protocol training session for its corporate members at the Patron Level and above. This one-hour presentation covers a wide, in-depth overview of relevant topics such as the US vs. Japan's foundational values, decision making, results vs. process, meeting preparations, hierarchical awareness, and more. However, JASC can tailor your training session to suit your company's needs and completely ensure an adequate foundation for Japanese business-making.
On-site sessions are available in the Front Range Area (Colorado Springs to Fort Collins), and online sessions are available anywhere!

Details
Our business protocol training is typically a one-hour English presentation curated by our Executive Director, Claudine Locascio, yet the length and information can vary depending on your company's needs. The presentation introduces all participants to Japanese business practices, etiquette, and more with an easily digestible and engaging visual format. Furthermore, we educate participants on Japanese cultural norms in order to bolster the societal awareness necessary for professional interactions.
Professional topics previously covered include:
- Comparing traditional business values between Japan and the United States
- Framework for decision-making processes
- Hansei or self-reflection, and how it is practiced professionally
- Results, processes, and partnerships
- Understanding non-verbal communication
- Meeting preparations and expectations
- Business card (meishi) etiquette
- Attire and manners
Cultural topics previously covered include:
- Japanese language basics and common phrases
- Chopstick and table etiquette
- Gift-giving culture (omiyage)
- Travel necessities

All presentations use PowerPoint. 10 minutes of advance set-up time is appreciated, and we kindly request that your company provide a projector, screen, and laptop connection for the training. If this technology is unavailable, please let us know in advance, and we will be able to accommodate.

How to request Business Protocol Training for your company:
Presentations are available any day of the week; please e-mail our Executive Director to begin a request: claudine@jascolorado.org
- Please initiate your request 3-4 weeks in advance in consideration of proper scheduling.
- The program coordinator travels various distances to give training presentations. Extreme weather, closures, and altered schedules may result in cancellation. We will do our best to reschedule your presentation if possible.
- Contact our Executive Director with inquiries about the program, discuss your company needs, and request presentations if your membership is below the Patron Level.
- We perform our training on a case-by-case basis, so please tell us if there are specific accommodations or topics you would like us to cover.
